County Waterford is on the south coast of Ireland in the province of Munster. It gains its name from the town of Waterford which is famous internationally for its Waterford Crystal. The county has some beautiful scenery with two mountain ranges in the Comeragh Mountains and the Knockmealdown Mountains (the highest point of which is Knockmealdown at 794m) as well as many rivers and more than 30 beaches along its south-facing coastline.
County Waterford has a long and varied history with numerous megalithic tombs and ogham stones in the county pointing at its ancient origins. Reginald’s Tower is a Viking built tower built from bricks and mortar (one of the first examples of such construction in the country), and the Woodstown settlement, just a few miles west of the city of Waterford, dates back to the 9th century, and was the largest Viking settlement outside of Scandinavia.

Travelling to or from Ireland? Don't forget the ferry! Not only does a ferry ride give you
the freedom of taking your own car but it provides a superb experience of travelling
by sea and exploring the coastline. With convenient routes between Holyhead and Dublin, or Pembroke and Rosslare, we recommend
Irish Ferries for great, low-cost, transport. They are the leading Irish ferry company and provide both an excellent service, and excellent prices.
